Good Smile Company Miku Nakano nendoroid REVIEW MyFigureCollection.net
Hello and welcome to another night at our show, The ICT hour!!
I'm the man with the everlasting obsession (please help me) for collecting things and I'll be your host for tonight's program.
This time we're going to review a nendoroid (haven't done that in a while) and the nendo we'll have is the recently re-released Miku Nakano aka best quint item/945058.
Before we'll start the review, let us look at some background information of the character the nendo's based on.
Information was taken from the 5Toubun no Hanayome Wiki
Miku Nakano (中なか野の 三み玖く, Nakano Miku?) is the third sister of the Nakano Quintuplets, and one of the main characters of the 5-toubun no Hanayome series. She has a timid personality.
Miku is an emotionless looking girl with medium-length brown hair that has strands of hair hanging over the right side of her face . Her notable accessory is a set of wireless headphones that have a triangle-shaped logo on the ear cups (Audio-Technica) [6]. Like her sisters, she has dark blue eyes, an average height, a well-endowed figure and large breasts.
Miku usually wears a long-sleeved sweater that covers her uniform. She also wears black tights and puts on her headphones around her neck. Most of the time, she has part of her bangs cover her right eye. She wears a ranzel.
Miku is a silent and reserved girl who has a pessimistic way of thinking and low confidence, even to the point of belittling herself.[9] Fuutarou Uesugi notes that she doesn't have faith in herself.[10] In contrary to her reserved self, she can talk in a straightforward manner and doesn't hesitate to confront others.[11] She can also be also slightly possessive, as she doesn't react well when Yotsuba kisses Fuutarou on the cheek to wipe some cream, and overall she gets pouty whenever another girl, especially one of her sisters, gets a little too close for comfort with Fuutarou.
Now that we're done with the introductions, LET'S START THE REVIEW!!
THE BOX
8/10, You have here the classic nendo box design which on it's own looks bland because how flat the colors are but The flower petals texture makes it look much more livelier than if it was flat.
On the bottom of the front panel we can see a profile image of nendo Miku on the bottom right and the nendo serial number, nendoroid logo lineup and the new Kodansha authenticity sticker on the bottom left. on the window we can see the nendoroid with her relaxed hands&arms with bunch of her accessories and also the name "Miku Nakano" printed on the window alongside the name of the main sculptor Design COCO with Nendoron's cooperation. the top of the panel has the quintessential quintuplets series logo on the left and both the Good Smile Company and the nendoroid 15th year anniversary logo on the right.
The side panels got a printed fabric texture in light blue with more flower petals of the same color which is a nice resemblance of Miku's sweatshirt alongside with her name in white and 2 commercial pictures of the nendoroid in each side with different poses.
The back panel possesses the same design as the side panels having the pose from the profile image at the front on a full frontal view and both poses of the flustered and pouting Miku aswell, combined with lots of warnings, credits, materials and logos of the appropriate people and groups that had something to do with this nendoroid.
The top panel has the flower petal texture with more logos, the character's name and the flustered pose while the bottom one has the same but with the pouting pose instead and a barcode.
Overall, It's actually a really nice box design and I like it a lot, it does have some changes made to it since it's the reissued version of this nendoroid such as the 15th anniversary logo and the authenticity sticker but other than that, everything else about the nendoroid is the same in every way.

THE NENDOROID
The nendoroid was first released the 3rd of September 2020 and later re-released at the 27th of October 2021 (my version). The nendoroid is made out of PVC and ABS, sculpted be Design COCO entry/70406 with the cooperation of Nendoron entry/8163 and was manufactured by Good Smile Company entry/7620. Now let's go over the more in-detail critiques of this nendoroid:
Sculpt: 8.5/10 (rounded to 9 because I like it), The sculpt of the nendoroid is good enough for a nendoroid, it's just about what you'd expect from it sculpt-wise, an OK body and a very detailed head which COCO definitely nailed at. So let's go from top to bottom about the sculpt of the nendoroid, including any additional parts she comes with.
First the hair, as expected, the sculpt of the hair looks very good (because it has to lol) COCO definitely got everything right from the hair strands underneath the headphones (which are part of the back hair piece of the nendo) to the creases resembling the shape of her hair to the cute hair strands that partially cover Miku's right eye.
The sculpt of the faceplates looks very good, they don't look too big/small, no issues with connecting to the central piece over the neckjoint or to the hair pieces, the sculpt of the flustered and pouting expression is on point and so is the smiling face, very like what I'm seeing here.
The headphones look pretty plain to me, the ear cups look way too small compared to the connecting piece of the headphones which isn't very accurate to other figures of Miku considering that even the PUP managed to get close enough to the proper dimensions and not to mention that the ear cushions look flat but that's ok in my book considering the overall size of this product.
the torso got a decent sculpt that properly resembles Miku's front assets, her pockets, buttons and the edges of her sweatshirt, also her shirt underneath is surprisingly on-point.
The arms are well detailed, they don't look like straight rolls they actually got a little bit of sculpt definition to make them appear like sleeves of a sweatshirt which is nice, the hands look fine, not much I can say about them except that their sculpt is very smooth without any seam lines or anything of the sort.
The skirt looks nicely defined sculpt-wise and her legs look ok here, again not something out of the ordinary as these are just parts of a nendo's body, however the legs here actually got a bit of shape over here of both thigh and lower leg which looks great for a nendo.
lastly, for the "big" accessories, The extra legs set actually looks quite good sculpt-wise, the stretch of the tights as Miku takes them off looks surprisingly good and I like how there's this hollow area on top of the skirt which creates sort of valley that allows the torso to get in all the way when you assemble Miku with that alternative lower half, and that matcha soda can looks nice too.
Overall, the sculpt of this nendoroid is standard yet very nice for how much I paid for it.
Paint job: 7/10, This is where things don't take a very good turn me would say, it's still good where it has to be, but not everywhere which is sad. So let's go over it from top to bottom once again, this time for the paintwork:
The hair has a mostly flat paintwork of what looks like coral brown (which is the color of Miku's hair in the first season, her version the nendo's based on) with some light touches of darker brown on the top of her head and around the headphones on the back hair piece. Idk if it's just me but it seems that nendoroids with the times progressing are getting less and less shading around the hair which I'm not too sure how to feel about this considering they go up in price at the same time.
The faceplates look dope tho! the prints of the eyes look so good and full of life, and the blush effects look great also, the paintwork around the faces adds that bit of life the sculpt has already shaped and it was done wonderfully. My issue with the faceplates is that some of them has some QC where there are thin grey lines next to the ears which sucks.
The paint on the emblems of the headphones are quite accurate which is much more that the PUP (like, bruh how do you even...) but some of the blue paint bleeds a bit to the black ear cushions.
for the rest of the body, the paintwork is flat to no one's surprise whatsoever, except I do notice some QC here aswell, for example, the light blue color of the swearshirt bleeds a little over the white shirt underneath on the top edges of the sweatshirt, also some of the paint of the shoes bleeds over on the tights.
Overall, it's a meh paintwork with some QCs on it which is quite concerning for future nendoroid releases and I hope my nendo Lucifer item/1131791 won't have it this bad when she's out and it's even sadder that people start to accept this as normal when it shouldn't be the case at all with the increased prices.
Posing: 9/10, The one thing nendoroids still do good for the most part even with all the bullshit and this Miku (the better one) is certainly no exception here! The posing experience of nendoroids is always what I liked the most about these figures because they are so cute and the poses can also be quite accurate to the characters themselves.
With this Miku, you can do quite the amount of poses with her like when she's flustered each time one of the girls says she has a crush on Fuutarou or when he compliments her, or the pose of her taking off her tights after a nice cha-I mean run at the school, her walking around with matcha soda that no one knows why she likes or when she gets pouty at Fuutarou for being dense, at her sisters for teasing her or out of jealousy seeing other girls cling to Fuutarou.
The pegs on the torso are a pretty good fit, they will come loose a bit when you try to put everything together with the big head on the stand like all nendos do but that's just part of the experience, and as someone who has both old and newer nendoroids, it's perfectly normal.
I have noticed however, that on the right stretched arm that is used for the pose of Miku taking off her tights, that the clenched right hand's peg is slightly longer than the peg hole on said arm. That, or that the peg of that hand is just that stiff on that arm for some reason.
Overall, these are my only nitpicks about the posing experience, overall, the experience is quite good and you can get some nice poses out of this nendoroid.
THE STAND
7/10, Like all nendos now (for the most part, sometimes the stand's bigger), we have our standard square stand base of 9 arm fitting holes and 4 larger holes (for special effects which the nendo doesn't have). The base is semi transparent with no color with copyrighted information written on one of it's panels.
The size of the arm is equal in size to the one my Goblin Slayer nendo item/764411 has and the peg that connects to the back of Miku's body is quite long, I don't think I've ever saw such a long connector peg for any nendoroid which is probably there to make it easier to pose her with the pose of taking off the tights.
Overall a decent nendo stand, didn't had any loose joints on it or damaged parts so it's all good.
Now let's look at some pictures of nendo Miku on display right out of the box:

FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall I really liked this nendoroid, she's really cute and the poses are wonderful, the sculpt is what you expect but the paint job still rubs me in the wrong way as most of my nendos aren't this bad on that department and I hope the quality control at Good Smile Company will see better days soon as this isn't a very good sight to the future of the company's quality later on.
If you like this nendoroid, the quintessential quintuplets, Miku Nakano (the good Miku) and missed your time to shine on the first release, then this nendoroid is for you and still going for relatively good prices even after release (I think I saw her for a good price at Ninoma recently).
And this is the end of this review! right now I'm still waiting on my Coreful Miku item/1215002 to arrive and also for the 11.11 day, I ordered myself some model kits from the anime eighty six item/1109853 and item/1234400 and also a chinese model kit from Eastern model entry/204455 of one of their own OC line A.T.K girl (like the frame arms girl from Kotobukiya) of the SERQET which I'll also review once assembled.
And that's the end for tonight's show! thank you all for reading through it! I was the guy with the love for collecting objects and I'll see you all, someday. Goodbye!
