Standard Metagame Challenge Hits MTG Arena On Friday

Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has released their weekly MTG Arena update that includes details on the Standard Metagame Challenge, the September BO1 Qualifier Play-In, and more.

Standard Metagame Challenge Set For Friday

The Standard Metagame Challenge returns to MTG Arena this Friday, offering a fresh, newly rotated Standard format with plenty of prizes on the line. The event is Best-Of-Three matches and win up to 5,000 gold and 30 Dominaria United packs. The Standard Metagame Challenge runs through Monday and costs 2,000 gold or 400 gems to enter.

Ajani, Sleeper Agent Avatar Available For Free Trial

The Ajani avatar has been replaced with the Sleeper Agent version for a limited time on MTG Arena. Players can use him for free until September 15, when he will go on sale in the store. The original Ajani avatar will return on the same date.

BO1 Qualifier Play-In This Weekend

The September Qualifier Play-In will run this weekend, starting at 6 AM PT Saturday and runs through 6 AM PT Sunday. The format is Dominaria United Phantom Sealed with Best-Of-One matches. Entry fee is 20,000 gold, 4,000 gems, or 20 Play-In Points. More information on the Play-In events can be found here.

Sleeper Agents Event Starts Next Week

A new event comes to MTG Arena September 15 where players can earn stained-glass card styles. The format will be Singleton featuring a new emblem that reads, “At the beginning of your upkeep, choose a creature card in your hand at random. It perpetually becomes a Phyrexian in addition to its other types. Whenever a Phyrexian you control deals combat damage to a player, that player gets two poison counters.”

Entry fee is 2,000 gold or 400 gems and players play until they reach four wins or two losses in the BO1 matches. Entering earns one card style and getting four wins earns 2,500 gold and three card styles.
