Lewis J. "Gump" Charlesworth, 70, of Minersville, passed away on Wednesday, May 1st, in his residence with his loving wife by his side.Born in Pottsville, on January 11, 1954, he was a son of the late Albert J. and Anna (Lewis) Charlesworth.
He was a 1971 graduate of Blue Mountain High School and attended Penn State University, Schuylkill Campus.
Lewis was owner and operator of Charlesworth Security Agency where he worked as a private detective. He also worked as a police officer for Schuylkill Haven and Orwigsburg Boroughs and was the first police officer hired at Penn State University, Schuylkill Campus.
He was a member of the New Minersville Firehouse Bikers Club and the Schaeffers Harley Davidson Hog Club. He was a 4th Degree Black Belt in Karate.
Lewis is survived by his wife, Carol A. (Wychunas) Charlesworth, to whom he was married 38 years; two daughters: Tara L. Eubanks, of Pottsville; Stacie Stoppie, of Pottsville; two sons: Chad J. Charlesworth, of VA; Stephen Stoppie, husband of Stacy, of Reading; grandchildren: Chase, Jayden, Zion, Jamie and Jarett ; brother, Charles, husband of Rosangela Charlesworth, of Clark Summit, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Monday, May 6th from 5-7:00 p.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Julia B. Karas, 98, Frackville passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 2nd.
Born in Trenton, PA, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Eva (Kuchta) Barna. She worked in the garment industry until her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Karas and her 9 siblings.
Julia is survived by her son, Edward K. Karas, Frackville and several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Frackville.

Helen “Bonnie” W. Badger, 84 of School Yard Square, Pine Grove passed away Wednesday while a resident of Seton Manor Nursing Home where she had spent the last year living in comfort thanks to the generosity of an unnamed angel.
Born in Bala Cynwyd, PA, she was the daughter of late Edward & Eleanor Webster.
After graduating from high school, Helen went on to Mount Holyoke College to obtain her teaching certificate. Helen worked for the state of Pennsylvania in the health care cost containment council as a secretary.
Helen also enjoyed volunteering and spent many years reading to the blind.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Mark C. Badger. She is also preceded in death by her grandson, Tristan Badger and her brother, Edward L. Webster, Jr.
Helen is survived by her son Thomas Badger of Hummelstown, companion to Lyn Elby. She is also survived by grandchildren, Brandyn Keller husband to Crystal, Tyler and Taryn Badger and great-grandchildren, Peyton Keller, Alexis Keller, and Ellie Badger.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 13th at 11:00 A.M. at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Services will be streamed live on the Facebook page of Schuylkill Memorial Park.

Kathleen M. (Conway) Kapusnick formerly of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.
Private interment services at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest with her late husband, Edward C. Kapusnick who died in 2008.

Charles J. Welna, 74 of Shenandoah passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at his residence after a courageous battle with Parkinsons disease.
