With many of us still staying home, we are all looking for entertainment and games have been a huge part of that. But beyond entertainment, we are using gaming to connect and interact with others, whether in the same home or miles apart. Now, not everyone has a console or gaming PC, but there is one thing that we do have: phones.

Mobile gaming is a huge market and there are a ton of games you can play with your friends or family, right now, on your phone. You just need to know which games are the gems and which games are the duds.

Our list here is made up of the 10 mobile, co-op games that we think are the best to be downloading right now.

Words with Friends 2

A classic. This digital version of Scrabble has been popular since it first came out over a decade ago. It’s simple, easy to pick up, and brings a ton of fun to your day. Nothing feels better than when you dominate your friends or family in a game, spelling out that one word that nets you an insane amount of points at just the right time. And for those who want a deeper experience, the game also offers a good amount of strategy, if you want to look for it. It’s not just about playing the longest word to get points but also positioning, timing, and pacing. It’s a great way to spend a few hours of your day.

Glow Hockey 2

Everyone enjoys a good, simple game to play together and that’s exactly what Glow Hockey 2 provides. We all love playing a round of Air Hockey at a restaurant or bar, and this game brings that experience to our homes when we can’t go to those places. Despite the annoying sounds of the puck constantly hitting things, the game looks great, the controls are responsive, and it’s just some clean fun without any over-thinking needed.

Ready Steady Bang

Live out your cowboy fantasy by playing this dueling game. Pitting you in a Western showdown at sunset, you can test your reflexes by drawing and shooting your opponent faster than they can shoot you. With variable timer lengths and death animations, as well as a single-player mode for when you’re not playing with a friend, the game is simple and worth your time.

Badland

We love the atmosphere and style of this mobile side-scroller. It probably will remind many of you of Limbo, as it did with us, and that’s a good thing. The game features split-screen co-op so you, and up to 3 friends, can journey your way through 23 different levels. Once you’re done with that, you can even build your own levels to play, much like Little Big Planet.

Crossy Road

The formula for this game dates all the way back to Frogger and it’s still around for good reason. There is something just purely fun about trying to get your chicken across the road in this game, and better yet, you can do it via local, split-screen multiplayer. Competing with your friends and family to see who can get across the road the fastest or most efficient, all while dodging the various obstacles thrown in your path is oddly addicting.

Santorini

The objective of this game is simple: you and your opponent are racing to see who can build their tower up to its third level first. Every move sees every pawn having to move and build and pawns can be capped by opponents to stop your winning move. Introduce the use of various powers and the combinations that come with those, and you have a tactically satisfying and repayable game.

Morels

This excellent digital-port of the card game has all of the best traits carried over from the physical version. It’s an incredibly relaxing, laid-back, and well-paced game that won’t require a ton of thought or focus, meaning you can just hang out and play to your heart’s content. Especially for those traveling together, it is a great way to waste some time in the car or on a plane.

Fort Sumter

Gain the political edge at the dawn of the American Civil War with a 15-minute hand of cards with your opponent. Despite the idea of building political power being rather complex, this game streamlines it into an easily understood and learned game of cards that still carries a surprising amount of nuance. Prepare for the inevitable breakout of war as you build your power.

Burgle Bros.

This game really shines when played with two people. Playing as two burglars, you are able to case your joint faster, but also increase the difficulty of having to hide. Both players will explore each floor’s tiles until they find the safe, crack it, take the loot, and get out to the next level. Just watch out for the patrolling guards and alarms that make it difficult. And if any player runs out of stealth points, they run an even higher risk of being caught and arrested.

Kingdom Two Crowns

This just may be our favorite on this list. Played solo, the game is a wonderful, micro-strategy experiencing of ruling over your own kingdom by handing out gold and traversing its length on your noble steed, all while defending it from monsters. But with a second person, it becomes even more fun as you work together as two rulers tackling the ever-pressuring role of ruler. Building your infrastructure and preparing your nightly defenses is just better with a friend.
