Boise State Football announces schedule changes

Publish date: 2024-08-25

Boise State is switching up some non-conference games scheduled in future seasons.

The Broncos will no longer be playing against Michigan State University in a home-and-home series. The games were originally scheduled for 2022 in Boise and 2023 in East Lansing, Michigan.

The team will add games against the University of Washington, which are scheduled for 2023 and 2029.

They will also play UT Martin in 2022 and North Dakota in 2023. Both of those games will be hosted at Albertsons Stadium.

The Oregon State game that was originally slated for 2023 will now take place in 2024 in Boise. That game will take place on September 7, 2024, when the team was originally scheduled to play the Houston Cougars. Instead, the Cougars will be at Albertsons Stadium two weeks later on September 21, 2024.

The changes are meant to "provide a financial boost to the department, better align future schedules with the department’s philosophy moving forward," according to a release from Boise State.

The changes are expected to bring $3.1 million dollars to the Broncos, the university said. Boise State will be paid more than $3 million for the games against Washington.

Boise State will pay UT Martin $425,000 to play at Albertsons Stadium in 2022. They will not have to pay North Dakota when the team comes to Boise in 2023.
