Historic Frenchglen Hotel is seeking new operator with a plan for growth

The historic Frenchglen Hotel is seeking a concessionaire with business savvy to run the hotel and restaurant.

Oregon State Parks are looking for someone with the winning business proposal to take over operations of the Frenchglen Hotel nestled in the upper end of the Blitzen Valley in Eastern Oregon. Nearby to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, the town of Frenchglen has a population of 12. The next closest community is Burns, roughly an hour away.

The Frenchglen Hotel was built in 1917. 106 years later the hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places. The eight-room hotel paired with the addition of Drover's Inn, which is an additional 4 rooms makes a total of 12 reservable rooms on the property, plus a caretaker's house.

Business season typically runs from March 15 through October. The property is turnkey and ready for the season, all it needs is the right concessionaire to take over after the longtime operator retired last season.

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department seeks 5% of revenue and $2,400 a month to maintain the historic property and its infrastructure. Last year the business reported $418,770 in revenue for reference.
