Foster + Heart opens home for children entering foster care system
MERIDIAN, Idaho (CBS2) — Foster + Heart, a local nonprofit organization in Meridian, opened a home to provide a safe environment for children entering the foster care system.
The home can house up to 8 children and has direct care staff and a service worker trained to care for children in some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is now able to put children in the home until they are placed with a foster family. This will ensure that children are placed in the right home and that sibling sets can stay together.
“When a child enters our home we want them to encounter a safe, loving sanctuary that is ready to meet their every need," says Kate Wilson, Foster + Heart’s Founder and Executive Director. "We’ve had incredible community members come alongside us to make this a reality and we are so excited that we can finally open this home that will fill a great need in the Treasure Valley.”
The organization was founded in response to a need for services supporting Idaho’s foster care community that Kate saw firsthand as a foster parent.
