Street Fighter 6 buffs Zangief with more throws and WWE body slams

We know you might be sitting there wondering what are the Street Fighter 6 character creator customisation options ahead of the Street Fighter 6 release date, but there’s so much more to learn about Capcom’s upcoming release – a game that could be one of the best fighting games out there when it arrives. For example, a recent Street Fighter 6 datamine reveals that Capcom is buffing Zangief for his next appearance. He’s reportedly going to have more throws and even a move or two ripped straight from a WWE superstar’s arsenal.

How do we know about all this? Well, Street Fighter content creator ‘Rooflemonger’ has been piecing together information from this Twitter thread on a huge set of Street Fighter 6 leaks to uncover more information about the upcoming fighting game and it’s new fighters.

However, returning wrestler Zangief is just one of the pre-existing characters that fans of the series can expect to be more complex than ever before – and, with any luck, even more fun to fight as.

In his video on the Street Fighter 6 leaks, which you can see below, Rooflemonger uses datamined announcer voice lines to suggest that Zangief is going to have “more throws than ever this time around” – a quote straight from the announcer themselves.

In addition to this, the announcer makes reference to an attack named The Jackhammer – this is Goldberg’s signature move in WWE, if you’re wondering where you’ve heard that name before. Rooflemonger does rightfully point out that this could just be a different move using the same name, but Zangief is a wrestler and it would make a lot of sense for there to be some established wrestling in his expanded moveset coming to Street Fighter 6.

If you’re not a Zangief fan, you’ll be pleased to know that this wasn’t all that Rooflemonger touches on in his video. They also talk about how new-fighter Lily is going to be a next-generation T Hawk – both canonically his daughter and a fighter making the more of some of his most exciting moves.

But, how does he know all of this? Well, thanks to quite a few data mined announcer voice lines, it’s clear that a number of the Native American fighter’s moves will now be available in Lily’s moveset. This means she’s quite-possibly going to be the smallest grappler we’ve seen in the Street Fighter series yet – but that shouldn’t affect her gameplay much.

It also reveals a few interesting details about newcomers to the Street Fighter 6 roster like JP and Marisa. The former sounds like they’re going to have some sort of teleportation move, and the latter should be one of the fighters with Super Armor – which is always fun. We expect more details to come on new moves, and interesting information about new characters, to appear online soon – so, keep your eyes peeled.
