Shruti Haasan recalls shivering during her first shot in Luck with Sanjay Dutt
Actress Shruti Haasan, who made her Bollywood debut with Luck opposite Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan recalls her early days on the set of the film. She's superstar, Kamal Haasan's daughter but that didn't help her combat the nervousness she felt while facing the camera for her very first shot.
In a recent interview, the actress opened up on how she bagged her first film. She said it was her rakhi brother, Imran Khan who suggested her name to the makers of Luck. Shruti went on to admit that she had not prepped enough and was terrible. in the film.
She recalls, "My first shot was with Sanjay Dutt and I started to shiver as soon as the camera was switched on. I was so nervous. My VO star had no idea it was my first shot but my director (Soham Shah) guided me through. Every scene of that film was difficult and I had no idea what was going on. I had been on a lot of sets while growing up but acting in a film is a different ballgame. The only thing I liked about myself in the film was my look, of a badass babe, which really caught on. Also singing and performing to the song, Luck Azma. It was right up my alley. Thankfully, people remember me for the song and not my performance in the film."
In retrospect, Shruti felt that she was privileged to have got that chance and she should have made the most of it. She said, "I was disappointed at the missed opportunity and i realised that I was not naturally gifted as an actor. I had to work on my skills, more so because my surname was gettig me places that many couldn't reach. All my dad said was 'keep working' after watching the film. I'd rather have him criticise me; this was not even a feedback.” More on: Shruti Haasan
